Ukrainian Children's Education

By Joseph Nichols, Organizer

It has been a tough week in Ukraine, and the weeks ahead look to be hard and dangerous. Flooding throughout the Kherson region, an increased level of combat along the 900km front, and the always present threat (and reality) of missile and drone attacks. This is life in Ukraine.

Out of an abundance of caution we are not gathering the children in organized groups for the “Keep The Kids Learning” program. It’s the normal summer break-time and, at this time, we feel the kids are best kept close to family. However, we are gathering supplies and continue delivery of food, Rx, hygiene products, wound care supplies, water filtration kits, small solar battery packs, and many other necessities of daily life to the kids and their families.

Our core volunteer group of 4 Americans, 1 Canadian, 1 Swede, and multiple Ukrainians continue to source and deliver the much needed aid. Our emergency short-wave radio system is functioning during electrical blackouts (a second phase installation begins in July).

Security is a big issue and we will not be discussing our locations, except that the focus is the south/southeast region of the country. Most of our supplies are secured, and loaded into vans, in Moldova and Romania. Our entry points into Ukraine are varied and not advertised.

Right now we could really use your help to continue this effort, and to prepare for what looks to a long summer of pain and displacement.

Thank you.
