800 children’s winter jackets arriving next week. Nothing fancy, all the same color. The plan is to include the jackets in packages that include a scarf, mittens and a small thermos.
In addition to clothes we have assembled a group of volunteers in Chernihiv and Kharkiv that will begin “winterizing” spaces for where the Kids Program can meet and house (short-term) if necessary. Tools have donated by Polish aid groups in Warsaw. Glass is too expensive and difficult to transport, so we will be using Saran Wrap around a wood frame and sealed with silicone. Funds are being hustled-up through our usual avenues…… GoFundMe being one of our U.S. sites. We also have a couple church groups from the U.S. that are trying to send twenty volunteers for two weeks to help; updates on that soon.
Broken windows have always been a problem in Ukraine – this recent article in the NY Times highlights the issue. They are working on a story about our efforts as well (huge boost for everyone here).
